About Our Client

Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of innovative lighting, electronics, and control systems for the transportation and mobility markets, including automotive, law enforcement, government, fire and rescue, and related industries.

The National Sales Director will report to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and lead a direct sales force of around 20 people, plus a network of manufacturing rep groups. The successful candidate will focus on growing sales revenue, mentoring and developing the sales team, and driving the overall growth strategy.

This organization has consistently demonstrated double-digit revenue growth every 5 years since its inception and aims to maintain its position as the #1 market leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall Sales Execution: Develop and execute sales plans, forecasts, and growth strategies to achieve budget sales and gross margin targets.
  • Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, assess their needs, and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Sales Team Management: Manage, mentor, develop, and coach sales team members to ensure they meet their sales targets and provide regular feedback on market conditions, competitor activities, and progress towards business objectives.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate the strategic plan with all key stakeholders, work closely with cross-functional teams, and attend industry trade shows, conferences, customer events, and related events.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze the current market position, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Master's preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of sales experience in the automotive/transportation industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a sales leadership role leading high-performing teams.
  • Skills: Strong leadership skills, analytical and organizational skills, strong presentations and communication skills, and the ability to travel extensively across the US region.
