Position Overview:

As a Fraud Risk Investigator, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity and security of financial transactions. Your responsibilities will encompass investigating, analyzing, and working towards the reduction of fraudulent activities within the payment ecosystem. Collaboration with various internal and external teams and stakeholders will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support management in achieving strategic business goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of fraud prevention products and initiatives.
  • Provide consultation and training related to fraud incidents, programs, products, or trends for stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze fraud trends to identify irregularities and aid in developing preventative strategies.
  • Represent Discover at industry conferences and events.
  • Collect, organize, and manage documentation related to investigations.
  • Prepare and review materials for audits and internal assessments.
  • Create technical documentation related to training and incidents as necessary.
  • Investigate alerts generated by fraud detection systems.
  • Utilize fraud detection tools and technologies effectively.
  • Assist in identifying emerging threats and developing fraud prevention strategies.
  • Stay informed about regulatory requirements.
  • Support leadership functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Security, Risk Management, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Fraud, Information Security, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are desirable:

  • Master's Degree in Security, Risk Management, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Fraud, Information Security, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as PCIP, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI).
  • Experience with SnowFlake or SQL programming language.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary for this position typically ranges from $75,500 to $127,000, with additional incentives as part of a competitive compensation package. Factors influencing compensation may include geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level.
