Position Overview:

Discover does not provide sponsorship or transfer for employment work visas for this role. Candidates must possess current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with both internal and external teams to identify emerging threats within the payment landscape. You will develop and implement countermeasures to prevent payment data breaches and reduce fraud losses. You will also actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues in your daily responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Fraud Risk Investigator, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity and security of financial transactions. Your duties will encompass investigating, analyzing, and mitigating fraudulent activities within the payment ecosystem. You will work closely with various stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the management team in achieving strategic business goals.
  • Assisting in the implementation of fraud prevention products and initiatives.
  • Providing consultation and training related to fraud incidents, programs, products, or trends for stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and analyzing fraud trends to identify irregularities and aid in developing preventative strategies.
  • Representing Discover at industry conferences and events.
  • Collecting, organizing, and managing documentation related to your work.
  • Preparing and reviewing materials for audits and internal business assessments.
  • Creating technical documentation related to training, incidents, and other requirements.
  • Investigating alerts generated by fraud detection systems.
  • Utilizing fraud detection tools and technologies effectively.
  • Assisting in identifying emerging threats, fraud prevention strategies, and training methodologies.
  • Staying informed about regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting leadership functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Security, Risk Management, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Fraud, Information Security, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, 6+ years of experience in Fraud, Information Security, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field may substitute for a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideally, we would also seek candidates with:

  • A Master's Degree in Security, Risk Management, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Fraud, Information Security, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Decision Analytics, or a related field.
  • PCIP certification.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation.
  • Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI) credential.
  • Experience with SnowFlake or SQL programming languages.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).

Compensation:

The base salary for this position typically ranges from $75,500.00 to $127,000.00. Additional incentives may be included as part of a competitive total compensation package. Factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may influence the pay for this role.
