Position Overview:
The Webster Campus Community School is seeking a Family Worker to support middle school students and their families. This role is integral to fostering a collaborative environment that promotes student success and family engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain knowledge of agency and community resources.
  • Coordinate services with mental health, medical, employment, educational, child care, and other social service providers.
  • Conduct home and field visits as necessary.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration among staff members.
  • Build and nurture relationships with parents and families of program participants.
  • Ensure a safe environment for students and families.
  • Participate in internal and external agency meetings and training sessions.
  • Prepare and submit reports, including monthly updates to supervisors.
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Program-Specific Duties:
  • Deliver direct services to students and families, including engagement, referral, advocacy, and case management.
  • Collaborate with the Community School Director, Social Worker, and School Personnel to identify students with chronic absenteeism.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a school environment.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with best practices in youth development is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to engage with young people, school administrators, community partners, and families.
  • Experience in program design, curriculum management, and implementation.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in modern business communication tools, including computers and electronic mail.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Capability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged durations.
  • Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs for home visits or fieldwork.
  • Proficient in bending and retrieving documents or objects.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the boroughs of New York City and nearby counties using public transportation.
  • Ability to travel at least 1 mile within a reasonable timeframe and in various weather conditions for home visits or fieldwork.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs as needed for home visits or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects/documents.
  • Willingness to travel via public transportation in New York City and adjacent counties.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 1 mile in various weather conditions for home visits or fieldwork.
