Job Overview

Flatiron is seeking a skilled Construction Project Engineer to join our team. This role is essential for overseeing the financial aspects of our projects, ensuring that all cost data is accurately collected and analyzed to maintain budgetary control. The ideal candidate will apply advanced resource management principles and possess a strong technical background in construction methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline is mandatory.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in construction engineering is required.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with resource monitoring techniques, including cost accounting and basic estimating, is preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Expertise in design-build or alternative construction methods is advantageous.
  • Leadership: Capable of setting clear expectations for team members and effectively delegating tasks to ensure project advancement.
  • Project Management: Proficient in managing multiple engineering tasks simultaneously, driving them towards a unified objective.
  • Contract Knowledge: Advanced understanding of contract specifications and quality assurance practices is essential.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to identify budgetary concerns and propose solutions to prevent project delays.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are necessary.
  • Scheduling Knowledge: Understanding of construction scheduling and time management is preferred.
  • Responsibility: Ability to interface and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Licensing: A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Health Compliance: Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption.
  • Collaboration: Regularly meets with engineering and field teams to ensure all resources are available for uninterrupted production.
  • Quality Assurance: Reviews project documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Identifies potential risks related to production and materials that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Performance Tracking: Evaluates daily project performance against budget and schedule, documenting activities as per company standards.
  • Reporting: Updates project schedules weekly and presents status reports during management meetings.
  • Work Planning: Prepares and manages a three-week work plan, addressing significant schedule changes proactively.
  • Information Management: Initiates and oversees all Requests for Information (RFIs) as required.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensures accurate project quantity reporting and manages invoicing with the accounting team.
  • Quality Support: Assists the engineering team with quality assurance and compliance documentation.
  • Safety Management: Reviews Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to maintain a safe work environment and participates in safety meetings.
  • Estimating Support: Aids the estimating team with project parameters and provides technical input as necessary.
  • Coordination: Coordinates subcontractor activities and schedules effectively.
  • Project Closure: Reconciles job close-out processes with stakeholders at project completion.
