POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Sustainability Projects to spearhead the planning and execution of innovative sustainability initiatives across Westlake facilities. This role focuses on emission reduction, energy efficiency, hydrogen utilization, renewable energy, and carbon capture technologies, overseeing a diverse portfolio of projects in these critical areas.

The successful candidate will engage in comprehensive project development activities, including pre-feasibility assessments, design engineering, and financial evaluations. You will ensure optimal resource management, project timelines, budget adherence, and technical integrity, delivering projects in a cost-effective and competitive manner.

Collaboration is key; you will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders, including technology providers, engineering consultants, local regulatory bodies, and plant management teams.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote a robust safety culture through personal conduct and a commitment to environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Develop sustainability projects and conduct pre-feasibility analyses aligned with strategic business unit priorities.
  • Perform technical and economic assessments of projects to establish their viability.
  • Oversee the management of both internal and external consultants and service providers.
  • Encourage and facilitate plant-level initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and energy consumption.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and project teams to secure necessary permits and approvals for project implementation.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis and research to identify and support commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor project progress, providing updates and strategic recommendations.
  • Stay informed on advancements in technology related to hydrogen, renewable energy, and carbon capture.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, ideally within a chemical manufacturing environment. Proven project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously are essential.

Intermediate financial analysis skills are preferred, as is familiarity with emissions reduction technologies. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are critical for success in this role.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess effective leadership capabilities, and demonstrate sound decision-making based on technical data.
