POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Sustainability Projects to spearhead the development and implementation of innovative sustainability initiatives across Westlake facilities. This role focuses on projects aimed at reducing emissions, optimizing energy use, advancing hydrogen technologies, harnessing renewable energy, and implementing carbon capture solutions.

Your responsibilities will include conducting feasibility assessments, designing projects, and performing economic analyses to ensure the successful execution of sustainability efforts.

You will oversee resource distribution, project timelines, budget management, and technical evaluations, ensuring that all initiatives are executed efficiently and competitively.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with both internal teams and external partners, including technology providers, engineering consultants, local regulatory bodies, and plant management.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Foster a strong safety culture and commitment to environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Develop sustainability projects aligned with strategic business unit priorities and manufacturing goals.
  • Conduct technical and financial assessments to validate project viability.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external consultants and service providers.
  • Encourage and facilitate innovative ideas for emissions and energy reduction from plant teams.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and project teams to secure necessary permits and approvals.
  • Perform data analysis and research to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on advancements in technology related to hydrogen, renewable energy, and carbon capture.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, ideally within a chemical manufacturing environment. Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously are essential.

Strong financial analysis capabilities and familiarity with emissions reduction technologies are preferred. Excellent collaboration, organizational, and communication skills are necessary for success in this role.
