Customer Technical Support Engineer

Overview of the Position

In the role of Customer Technical Support Engineer, you will engage in a dynamic, customer-oriented environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients, addressing their inquiries, diagnosing technical challenges, and providing expert guidance. Collaborate with teams both locally and globally, utilizing both in-person and virtual communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Siemens Energy Industrial Application steam turbine technical services sector by developing inspection protocols, analyzing results, formulating repair strategies, aiding in workshop repairs, and generating reports for current equipment.
  • Maintain updated fleet documentation to accurately reflect steam turbine and valve specifications.
  • Manage technical service inquiries by reviewing fleet information and responding to questions from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver technical support and guidance for root cause analysis.
  • Offer inspection and repair quotations to the marketing division.
  • Provide technical directives to manufacturing, supply chain management, or field service teams regarding product deviations.
  • Lead or assist in steam turbine research and development initiatives by performing calculations, ensuring timely issuance of drawings, and completing tasks within budget constraints.
  • Supply necessary modifications and information to drafting personnel to ensure accurate revisions of existing engineering drawings or the creation of new ones. Review, amend, and approve engineering documents.
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams to support turbine installation or troubleshooting efforts.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing within the organization, learning from peers and imparting your expertise.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing costs and enhancing processes within the business.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required, with a preference for mechanical disciplines.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary, including at least 1 year in technical engineering roles related to rotating equipment. A solid grasp of mechanical engineering principles is essential; candidates with additional experience may be considered for more advanced positions.
  • A problem-solving mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners to develop solutions.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment products and their design.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis processes and a passion for developing customer-centric solutions.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%, both domestically and internationally, with the ability to obtain a passport.
  • Flexibility to work during off-hours and weekends as necessary to support continuous operations.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
