Customer Technical Support Engineer
Overview of the Position
As a Customer Technical Support Engineer, you will engage in a dynamic and customer-focused environment. Your role involves assisting clients, addressing their inquiries, diagnosing technical challenges, and offering expert guidance. Collaborate with teams across various locations, both in-person and virtually.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Siemens Energy Industrial Application steam turbine technical services sector by developing inspection protocols, analyzing results, formulating repair strategies, facilitating shop repairs, and documenting findings for current equipment.
- Maintain and update fleet documentation to accurately represent steam turbine and valve configurations.
- Manage technical service inquiries by reviewing fleet information and responding to questions from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver technical support and guidance for root cause analysis initiatives.
- Provide inspection and repair cost estimates to the marketing team.
- Offer technical direction to manufacturing, supply chain, or field service teams regarding product deviations.
- Lead or assist in steam turbine research and development projects by conducting calculations, ensuring timely issuance of drawings, and managing tasks within budget constraints.
- Provide feedback and details to drafting personnel to ensure accurate revisions of existing engineering drawings or the creation of new ones. Review, adjust, and approve engineering documentation.
- Supply technical guidance to field teams during turbine installation or troubleshooting processes.
- Share knowledge with colleagues and learn from their expertise within the organization.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing costs and enhancing processes within the business.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary, including at least 1 year in technical engineering roles involving rotating equipment. A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles is essential; candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for advanced positions.
- A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external partners to develop effective solutions.
- Familiarity with rotating equipment products and an understanding of product design.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and a desire to create customer-centric solutions.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%, both domestically and internationally, with the ability to obtain a passport.
- Flexibility to work during off-hours and weekends as needed to support 24/7 operations.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the design of rotating equipment, particularly steam turbines.
- Background in reliability, manufacturing, design, or operations related to rotating equipment.
