Position Overview:

The Chief Executive Officer of One Penn Radiology (OPR) will oversee the comprehensive development, implementation, and enhancement of operational, strategic, financial, and programmatic initiatives within the Radiology sector. This role involves close collaboration with Radiology operational teams and leadership across entities to ensure that resource allocations align with strategic goals and are executed efficiently and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for One Penn Radiology, which acts as the governing body for the Radiology enterprise across Penn Medicine, managing both outpatient and inpatient Radiology services, as well as academic programs within the Department of Radiology.
  • Direct the formulation of coordinated regional strategies, expand the clinical enterprise, foster network affiliations, and integrate programs across all Penn Medicine entities, including various hospitals and clinical practices.
  • Establish strategic direction and priorities for clinical, financial, administrative, and academic operations to support Radiology functions across the health system.
  • Collaborate with the Chair of Radiology and OPR leadership to set annual priorities, assess performance metrics, and monitor outcomes. OPR leaders will work alongside entity administrative leaders and Radiology Directors to implement strategic initiatives.
Accountabilities:
  • Act as a strategic partner to PMMG and hospital leadership to formulate and achieve objectives for financial performance, clinical quality, service excellence, and patient-centered care.
  • Ensure alignment of resource requests with strategic priorities, delivering them on time and within budget.
  • Partner with the OPR steering committee to evaluate new programs and innovations alongside division and department leaders.
  • Collaborate with financial leaders to provide data and assessments for programmatic requests.
  • Manage multiple projects with a high standard of quality.
  • Frame meetings and structure projects by identifying issues, outlining project scopes, and engaging project teams to deliver final outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of strategies, plans, and initiatives.
  • Support the OPR Board and executive leadership in decision-making and problem-solving while fostering relationships with stakeholders and external organizations.
  • Participate in leadership teams across hospitals and faculty practices, collaborating with Department Chairs, Division Chiefs, and other leaders to address the complex needs of stakeholders in achieving OPR's strategic goals.
Clinical Operations Oversight:
  1. Enhance integrated Radiology operations planning across the health system in partnership with the COO for OPR.
  2. Ensure compliance with operating guidelines established by the OPR steering committee, utilizing benchmarking and market data to develop management tools across all Radiology practices.
  3. Promote patient engagement and ensure a consistently exceptional patient experience.
  4. Provide executive oversight for OPR Committees and administrative functions within the Radiology department.
  5. Lead the advancement of innovative program development across specialties, leveraging technology and AI for improved efficiency and integration.
  6. Ensure successful execution of quality, cost, and process variation management within operations.
Planning and Budgeting:
  1. Collaborate with senior leaders to formulate strategic growth and clinical priorities across the system.
  2. Lead the development of annual capital and operating budgets for areas of responsibility and monitor financial performance.
  3. Work with Strategic Decision Support to track progress on comprehensive business plans for OPR, updated annually.
  4. Manage and enhance OPR activities based on key performance metrics, including volume growth and patient satisfaction.
Clinical Portfolio Growth:
  1. Collaborate with hospitals and physician leadership to implement strategies for increasing clinical volume and market share.
  2. Work with departments to develop recruitment plans for clinical faculty to meet volume and financial targets.
  3. Ensure programmatic growth targets and quality goals are established and achieved in collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership.
OPR Oversight:
  1. Identify and advance OPR priorities in collaboration with hospital and school leadership.
  2. Define strategies for clinical alignment of various physician models.
  3. Coordinate integration of OPR-related services across network affiliates.
  4. Maintain awareness of the competitive regional environment and develop strategies to enhance Penn Medicine's market position.
Marketing:
  1. Coordinate the development of annual marketing plans in collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer.
  2. Serve as the administrative representative for the Marketing Department to implement campaigns and community outreach.
  3. Oversee the organization of physician conferences and educational events to promote Penn Medicine's leadership in Radiology.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (Required) with 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic and operational functions in radiology or a related healthcare area.
  • Or a Master's degree (Required) with 8+ years of relevant experience in strategic planning and operations.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Familiarity with healthcare operations and financial reimbursement.
