Overview of the Program

Our objective is to provide you with an authentic experience of working at Jane Street. Throughout your internship, you will delve into innovative approaches to tackle intriguing challenges within your area of expertise through engaging classes, interactive discussions, and collaborative sessions. You will also have the opportunity to apply these insights in practical scenarios.

As an intern, you will be paired with seasoned professionals who will mentor you, collaborating on essential projects that contribute to our operations. In addition to project work, you will have ample time to utilize our office facilities, access educational resources, attend guest lectures and social gatherings, and engage with aspects of our work that inspire you.

Position Details

Envisioning a daily routine filled with mundane tasks is not the reality of this internship.

We will prepare you as if you are joining our dedicated team of IT Operations Engineers, who are tasked with the support, configuration, and management of various systems across our technology platforms, including desktop engineering, networking, and diverse application systems. You will engage in hands-on activities to enhance our office environment. Responsibilities may include: addressing technology support inquiries, setting up and configuring Windows and Linux systems, maintaining our Windows domain infrastructure, monitoring and supporting systems, and contributing to projects aimed at optimizing our workflows using tools like PowerShell.

Our IT interns are approachable and collaborative problem-solvers who take pleasure in assisting others. They are adept at real-time troubleshooting, exhibit patience with end users, and are comfortable seeking clarification and acknowledging errors. Our internships offer a valuable introduction to Jane Street and our problem-solving methodologies across various teams. Many successful interns have been invited to transition into full-time roles after completing their studies.
Candidate Profile

We do not require a background in finance or any specific discipline; rather, we value your thought process and learning ability more than your current knowledge. Ideal candidates should be:
  • Graduating in 2026
  • Available for a full-time commitment in our London office
  • Interested in exploring networking, programming, or system administration
  • Eager to assist others and resolve issues; able to communicate effectively and respectfully
  • A dependable team player with a willingness to tackle any task
  • Comfortable in a dynamic work environment
  • Humble and open to asking questions and acknowledging mistakes
  • Able to analyze technical challenges and willing to engage hands-on to gain experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues across desktop, server, and network levels
  • Capable of developing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Fluent in English
While not mandatory, the following skills would be advantageous, as the role includes on-the-job training:
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, such as PowerShell or Bash
  • Understanding of computer hardware components and their interactions
  • Experience with the Windows operating system and productivity tools like Microsoft Excel and Word
