Pharmacy Automation Specialist Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy Automation Specialist is responsible for managing inventory within the automation system and ensuring that all units are adequately stocked for our clients. This role involves visiting client locations to troubleshoot any issues related to the automation technology and serves as the primary contact for the dispensing system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Address all automation-related inquiries and issues.
  • Maintain and restock inventory in the automation system daily.
  • Generate reports using the relevant software.
  • Perform data entry tasks as required.
  • Ensure that medications in the system have a minimum 30-day shelf life.
  • Conduct client visits to resolve issues and perform necessary audits of medications.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of emergency medication kits.
  • Prepare finished prescription products.
  • Label medications accurately, including cautionary and auxiliary labels, along with other light warehouse duties.
  • Efficiently fill daily medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Support the processing of returned medications and ensure proper disposal/recycling procedures are followed.
  • Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications and restocking as needed.
  • Manually package materials and products.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and replenish stock supplies as needed.
  • Notify the pharmacist on duty of any scanning issues with medications/products.
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
  • Be prepared for overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Nationally certified and licensed as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with brand name and generic medications.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
  • Able to work at a moderate pace.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to perform light lifting as needed.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and days.
  • Basic math skills are essential.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Experience with pharmacy automation systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) is preferred.
