This position is integral to Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, providing Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across our various facilities.

As a key member of our dedicated team of technicians, you will be responsible for the assembly, repair, and assessment of electrical harness assemblies for a range of spaceflight systems. Your contributions will significantly influence the production, evaluation, and advancement of Flight-grade Avionics Harnessing and electrical systems. Working in the Avionics Harness Lab demands a high level of expertise in technical tasks, including measuring and layout, terminating diverse electrical connections on mechanical assemblies, and executing various soldering operations. Upon completion, you will conduct a series of verification tests to guarantee the highest quality standards are met.

  • Relocation assistance available.
  • This role operates on a Friday to Sunday schedule, totaling 36 hours, with an 11% weekend shift pay increase, effectively compensating at the rate of a 40-hour workweek.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Constructing a variety of harnesses while frequently adapting to shifting project priorities, necessitating a flexible approach.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams on new designs, establishing standard processes, and identifying opportunities for design enhancements prior to production.
  • Providing constructive feedback on new assemblies, pinpointing necessary improvements to existing designs, and modernizing outdated designs.
  • Serving both internal and external clients across multiple systems and platforms, recognizing each technician's vital role in supporting safe, economical, and regular human spaceflight.
  • Emphasizing safety, collaboration, and quality to collectively determine optimal solutions, balancing efficiency and safety to produce high-quality components that will advance future space missions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in fabricating, inspecting, and repairing wire harness assemblies.
  • Proficient with standard harnessing tools, measuring, and layout of assembly, including wire stripping, crimping, and splicing using both manual and automated methods.
  • Familiarity with testing and troubleshooting tools such as digital multi-meters, milli-ohm meters, insulation testers, or Hi-Pot test equipment.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for space exploration.
  • Knowledge of torquing procedures, fastener sizing, and harness assembly/disassembly.
  • Competence in using software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with digital work order systems and the ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and dimensional layout drawings.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee or asylee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly, vehicle integration, testing, and processing.
  • Expertise in all types of solder termination and splicing.
  • Experience with on-vehicle repairs and working in various cleanliness environments (Gross, Visual, or clean room).
  • Certification in IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
  • IPC 620/620 Space Addendum certifications and IPC J-STD certifications (current or past).
Compensation:
The compensation range for onsite applicants is competitive and commensurate with experience.
