This position is integral to New Shepard Operations and is based in Kent, supporting various Business Units and teams across all Blue Origin locations.
As a key member of our dedicated team of technicians, you will be responsible for the assembly, repair, and assessment of electrical and mechanical components for a range of spaceflight systems. Your contributions will significantly influence the production, evaluation, and advancement of Flight-grade Avionics. Working in the Avionics Hardware Lab demands a high degree of technical skill in tasks such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and wiring assembly.
Key Highlights:
- Relocation assistance available.
- Work schedule: Monday - Thursday (5am - 3:30pm).
- Constructing various components and assemblies for all teams across Blue Origin in diverse environments (development, testing, and flight).
- Collaborating with engineering to assist in the assembly of new and revised designs, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Providing ongoing feedback on manufacturing enhancements or modifications to promote more efficient assembly processes.
- Serving both internal and external clients across multiple systems and platforms; each technician plays a vital role in supporting safe human spaceflight.
- Emphasizing safety, teamwork, and quality enables us to collectively determine the optimal path forward, balancing speed and safety to produce high-quality components that will launch future astronauts and payloads into space for the betterment of humanity.
- Experience in an ESD EPA environment and familiarity with tool control/accountability procedures.
- Proficient in using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering, and basic electronic testing equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
- Skilled in fabricating, terminating, and testing wire harnesses.
- 2-4 years of experience in Aerospace Avionics or related disciplines.
- Experience in inspecting and certifying work according to relevant standards and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for space exploration.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or legally admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work a 40-hour week (4x10's) with occasional overtime to accommodate launch schedules.
- Ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusivity.
- 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair, or component replacement.
- Knowledge of applying and removing staking and conformal coating.
- Experience with energized power/high voltage systems, battery systems, or RF assemblies.
- Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
- J-STD soldering certification, 610 PCB Inspection, and 7711/7721 Rework.
- Experience and capability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders, and configuration management systems.
The compensation range for on-site applicants is competitive and commensurate with experience.
