Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for delivering compassionate pharmacy consulting services to patients, focusing on the effective management of medications and awareness of potential drug interactions. This role encompasses preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic assessments, and patient outcome evaluations. The Pharmacy Manager ensures that all prescribed medications are accurately compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified in compliance with regulatory standards and company protocols. This position also involves optimizing pharmacy workflow, enhancing financial performance, managing inventory efficiently, and improving the overall patient experience. Furthermore, the role includes overseeing pharmacy staff performance and engagement, as well as facilitating their professional development through training and performance management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Enhancing Patient Experience:
Engages with patients by providing a warm welcome and assisting them with their needs. Resolves patient inquiries promptly to ensure a satisfactory experience.


Demonstrates and shares exemplary customer service practices with team members to create a distinctive and positive patient experience, emphasizing interpersonal skills and Walgreens service values.

Anticipates patient needs and proactively offers relevant services. Leads initiatives to elevate patient experience by promoting awareness of healthcare services available through Walgreens, thereby transitioning the pharmacy's role from transactional to relational.


Participates in community events that reflect the unique needs of the populations served, as directed by management.

Operational Excellence:
Counsels patients on medication usage, potential side effects, interactions, and privacy concerns.

Refers patients to medical providers as necessary to ensure correct medication usage and address health needs.

Conducts pharmacist duties including compounding, medication reviews, verification, and management.

Ensures compliance with regulations and company standards in pharmacy operations.

Implements procedures to enhance pharmacy workflow, including staff scheduling and role assignments.

Responsible for pharmacy opening and closing procedures.


Ensures adherence to Good Faith Dispensing policies in accordance with state and federal laws.

The Product Review/Retail Fill Process Pharmacist is tasked with ensuring compliance with Good Faith Dispensing elements.

Collaborates with management to identify and develop new business opportunities.


Maintains proficiency in pharmacy technology systems, including workflow management, prescription fulfillment, and inventory control.

Provides support to pharmacy staff and patients regarding technology-related inquiries. Identifies opportunities for productivity improvements.

Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims to avoid payment issues. Addresses patient concerns by liaising with insurance providers and conducting audits.


Communicates with medical providers to clarify prescriptions and address any questions regarding medications.

Clinical Services:
Delivers clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.

Partners with centralized support for patient registration and issue resolution. In virtual settings, conducts product reviews following established guidelines.


Oversees the maintenance and organization of the pharmacy department to ensure a clean and efficient workspace.

Prepares and submits necessary documentation as required by regulatory authorities.

People Management:
Collaborates with management on hiring, disciplinary actions, and compliance with employment regulations.

Sets expectations and goals for pharmacy staff, fostering teamwork and a shared vision.

Recognizes and rewards staff improvements and manages performance through training and evaluations.

Addresses employee relations issues and maintains morale by monitoring team welfare and resolving conflicts.

Professional Development:
Maintains required licensure and certifications as mandated by regulatory bodies.

Enhances knowledge of pharmacy and healthcare trends through continuous education and professional reading.

Seeks feedback for personal growth and utilizes management as mentors.

Communication:
Supports management by disseminating relevant health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Performance Management:
Analyzes pharmacy performance metrics, including financials and customer service, to identify areas for improvement.

Community Engagement:
Builds relationships with local healthcare providers to promote pharmacy services and community health initiatives.
