Position Overview:

The Complex Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in delivering consistent leadership in the financial aspects of the hotel, providing management with essential guidance and training. This position focuses on enhancing business profitability, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, adhering to all regulatory requirements, and protecting the assets of owners and investors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and communicate cash flow issues effectively, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, including cash flow statements, receivables, payables, cash balances, and control mechanisms.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording in line with established guidelines, while overseeing cash flow and operating forecasts.
  • Develop annual budgets and conduct monthly variance analyses, investigating discrepancies and proposing practical improvements to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, and operational taxes, assisting management in enforcing these standards.
  • Analyze financial data and operations to support management in achieving the hotel's financial objectives.
  • Adhere to standard accounting policies and procedures, ensuring internal controls for finance and accounting operations are maintained.
  • Conduct timely reviews and approvals of all balance sheet accounts, including monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Establish and audit internal financial controls related to purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, and payroll.
  • Oversee the successful completion of all internal and external financial audits, coordinating with CPA firms and providing requested information promptly.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop staff, providing coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Prepare all financial reports according to company requirements, meeting various deadlines.
  • Report responsibilities include weekly A/R & A/P Aging, Flash Reports, Payroll Reports, and Revenue Updates.
  • Monthly reporting includes Financial Statements, Forecasting Key Statistics Report, and Cash Flow.
  • Annual reporting responsibilities encompass Budgets, 5-Year Plans, and 5-Year Capital Plans.
  • Engage with Executive Committee members to ensure property operations remain on track and under control.
  • Monitor compliance with report deadlines and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Ensure the accurate production of the hotel daily operating report.
  • Execute special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or a related field; or a 4-year degree in Accounting/Finance with at least 2 years of relevant experience; or a 2-year degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Windows, approved spreadsheets, word processing, and hotel-specific systems.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Regular attendance in compliance with company standards is required.
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming are expected.
  • Ability to handle problems effectively, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.
