Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for Relm Insurance Solutions Ltd in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Manage daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of insurance premium receivables and payables through reconciliation.
  • Handle the preparation, submission, and maintenance of state surplus line tax filings.
  • Calculate annual U.S. income tax obligations.
  • Execute monthly and year-end closing processes.
  • Support the development and monitoring of internal control systems.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports for management review.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to collect financial data and provide necessary support.
  • Participate in audits and supply documentation as required.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
  • Work with external tax advisors to enhance tax strategies and minimize liabilities.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to remain informed about tax law changes.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and claims departments to analyze and report on insurance-related financial metrics.
  • Keep abreast of developments in insurance accounting standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and filings for insurance regulators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance sector is required.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with US tax filings and insurance regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software; familiarity with MS Business Central is advantageous.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel.
