The CFO is instrumental in steering the financial management of the city, which includes accounting, cash flow management, treasury operations, procurement processes, pension management, payroll systems, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and implement departmental objectives.
  • Review municipal fiscal policies and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Supervise the investment strategies for city funds.
  • Ensure adherence to fiscal regulations and the City's Investment Policy.
  • Deliver expert analysis and guidance on municipal fiscal policies to the City Manager and City Commission.
  • Oversee the internal audit functions of the city.
  • Manage the financial reporting processes.
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Finance, or Public Administration.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in governmental budgeting and management, including three (3) years in a senior supervisory role within a municipal financial operation.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is mandatory.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certifications such as Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) and Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) are highly desirable.
