Job Overview:

The Senior Accountant will oversee the precise and timely financial reporting and analysis for the retail operations of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and validity of all supporting schedules.
  2. Enter monthly journal entries with detailed descriptions and maintain all necessary documentation.
  3. Record monthly and year-end accruals accurately.
  4. Conduct thorough analysis of balance sheet accounts and prepare detailed support schedules.
  5. Manage financial reporting for assigned asset portfolios.
  6. Ensure accuracy in the general ledger through diligent analysis and coding of transactions.
  7. Contribute to the annual budget preparation for designated properties.
  8. Collaborate with the retail operations team to ensure accurate inventory adjustments.
  9. Verify that control accounts reconcile with the General Ledger.
  10. Provide support to various internal departments including Finance, Corporate, Treasury, and Legal.
  11. Assist in the development of models for reforecasting, budgeting, and final billings.
  12. Support post-closing proration adjustments and system setups for new entities.
  13. Review calculations for monthly management fee expenses.
  14. Record sales tax payments accurately.
  15. Review monthly rent roll billings and minimum rent variance schedules.
  16. Provide assistance to external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
  17. Respond to inquiries and supply supporting documentation to external partners.
  18. Participate in special projects as required.
  19. Work with corporate accounts to reconcile intercompany balances.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred.

5-7 years of experience in a similar property accounting role.

Experience in retail accounting is required.

Previous experience in Public Accounting is preferred.

Familiarity with Yardi software is a plus.

CPA certification is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage multiple properties simultaneously with a strong attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting principles.
  • Proficient in accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Capable of managing multiple company ledgers effectively.
  • Deadline-driven with a focus on accuracy.
