Overview:
This job description outlines the essential functions and responsibilities of the C5ISR Engineer Level III position at Eastern Shipbuilding Group Inc. It serves as a general guide and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.

Purpose:
The C5ISR Engineer will oversee an engineering team focused on the detailed design and technical support for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5I) systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful integration and development of marine craft's C5I systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and flexibility to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in resolving operational issues.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in meeting production schedules and training needs.
  • Provide technical support for the C5I Detail Design of the USCG Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC).
  • Contribute to a robust testing program at various facilities and during Navy acceptance trials.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications and design standards.
  • Maintain communication with the C5I Manager regarding design aspects.
  • Prepare progress reports and metrics on C5I development.
  • Manage integration and system engineering challenges.
  • Lead a team of designers and engineers, ensuring task assignments align with production needs.
  • Apply standard design principles to complete assignments effectively.
  • Create production drawings for C5I components.
  • Ensure adherence to design safety factors and specifications.
  • Compile data for the preparation of technical drawings.
  • Implement changes as directed by supervisors.
  • Participate in marine craft testing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities, but may provide mentorship to junior staff.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Engineering Group Manager.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with over 5 years of experience in C5I systems management and development. Experience on maritime vessels is preferred.

Required Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to interpret technical documents and present information effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:
Experience in government shipbuilding programs is preferred. Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems is advantageous.

Citizenship:
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card is required.

Security Clearance:
Active security clearance preferred; eligibility for a security clearance is required.

This position primarily involves office work, characterized by:

  • Indoor work environment.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust.

Physical Requirements:
This role is classified as light work, requiring:

  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent standing and repetitive movements.
