We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator and Family Support Specialist to provide, coordinate, implement, and oversee comprehensive early childhood education and family assistance services for children and families engaged in our programs. This role aligns with performance standards, best practices, and the organizational policies and procedures of EOCFWA.

This position entails a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with scheduled breaks during summer, winter, and spring. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, during the day, with no weekend obligations. The compensation for fully qualified candidates is $22.40 per hour, while trainees will receive $21.44 per hour.

Consideration for a training plan may be available based on individual qualifications.

Application Process:

Applicants are required to create a Merit account and submit an application for the Portable Background Check, which can be found in the application tab after account creation. Reimbursement for the background check cost will be provided upon hiring.

Interviews will commence once a qualified candidate pool is established.

Qualifications:

Required Education: An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development, ECE, or a related field; or in Human Development, Human Services, Sociology, Social Work, or a similar discipline. Educational background must include 30 quarter credits in ECE. *A training plan may be considered based on qualifications.

Preferred Education/Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development, ECE, Human Development/Human Services, or a related field that offers comprehensive knowledge of early childhood education and family services. Educational background must include 30 quarter credits in ECE. A minimum of one year of paid experience in providing early childhood education and/or case management services for children aged 3 to 5 years and their families is preferred.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Principles of child development and early childhood curriculum planning.
  • Current best practices in early childhood development and education; developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood programs.
  • Available community services and resources for children and families.
  • Principles of case management, advocacy, and family dynamics.
  • Fundamentals of human development and family services.
  • Basic rules and principles of grammar, written and verbal communication, and mathematics.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Observe and assess children, setting individualized goals.
  • Prepare classroom environments to meet the educational needs of each child.
  • Track children's progress and integrate findings into the curriculum.
  • Establish supportive relationships with families from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Collaborate effectively with staff and clients from varied backgrounds.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Utilize a team approach to resolve conflicts or challenges.
  • Exhibit professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive feedback constructively and exercise sound judgment.
  • Participate in relevant staff meetings and training sessions as assigned.
