Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding/Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Transform Automotive. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in our welding and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principles to optimize our manufacturing processes and eliminate waste.
  • Team Collaboration: Active participant in the Elimination of Waste Team meetings and work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve company goals.
  • Technical Expertise: Prepare, assess, and report on weldments and technical data for research, development, and root cause analysis to prevent weld failures.
  • Project Management: Act as Project Manager on new programs during the APQP process, participating in design development, failure mode and effect analysis, manufacturing feasibility studies, and production trial runs.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain process parameters, ensuring adherence to customer specifications, including sectioning, polishing, and microscopic metallurgical analysis.
  • Problem-Solving: Lead and participate in problem-solving activities, including troubleshooting machines to resolve manufacturing issues using the Global 8-D process.
  • Training and Development: Educate operators and support personnel on process flow, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Initiate, coordinate, and verify design changes to part prints, work instructions, set-up instructions, PFMEA's, and process flow diagrams, promoting Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing throughout the organization.
  • Industry Expertise: Champion welding joining and developments that may affect future opportunities, possessing working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 Compliance criteria.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Weld Engineering, or minimum 5 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Skills: Knowledgeable of arc welding, laser welding, and robotic applications, mechanical tooling assembly design ability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Personal Qualities: Self-starter, collaboration skills, excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, organized and efficient, and personal effectiveness/credibility.
