Job Summary

Lincoln Electric, a leading global supplier of welding, assembly, and material handling equipment, is seeking a skilled Welding Systems Controls Project Engineer to join its team. As a key member of the Controls Engineering department, you will be responsible for managing the controls activities of assigned projects, reviewing customer software specifications, and developing project templates and engineering documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the controls activities of assigned projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high-quality results.
  • Review and analyze customer software specifications to identify requirements and develop project plans.
  • Develop and implement project templates and engineering documents, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Validate all software before commissioning, ensuring seamless integration with equipment and systems.
  • Commission software on equipment as required, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, coordinating with project management and stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
  • Participate in validation and buyoff of software on equipment, ensuring customer satisfaction and quality standards.
  • Archive all completed engineering software designs, engineering documents, and lessons learned, maintaining a comprehensive knowledge base for future projects.
  • Coordinate with project management regarding schedule, design concepts, and other status information on areas of concern.
  • Attend project cross-functional team meetings, representing the Controls Engineering department and providing technical expertise.
  • Represent all controls activities with the customer for the project duration, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews of deliverables, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Present and support all customer software approvals, ensuring seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as engineering liaison to manufacturing and field service departments, facilitating communication and collaboration to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
  • Ability to take the Controls Engineering Lead on a project, demonstrating strong leadership and technical skills.
  • Strong programming knowledge and experience using Rockwell PLC's, with a solid understanding of programming languages and software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of spot and MIG welding control systems, with experience in designing and implementing control systems for welding equipment.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Controls system application knowledge, with experience in designing and implementing control systems for industrial equipment.
  • Robot I/O interfacing, with basic operation knowledge of Fanuc, ABB, and Motoman robots.
  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering or a related field.
  • Possible 50% travel requirement, with a valid US passport and ability to travel to Canada.

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
