Job Overview

The Opportunity

As Halo Industries, Inc. scales its initial pilot production line, we are in search of a seasoned process engineer to advance wafer fabrication methodologies that meet client demands while sustaining production efficiency across various equipment, including grinders, polishers, and cleaning systems. This role will particularly emphasize the processes and equipment used for eliminating particulates and contaminants from wafers, focusing on wet bench systems and brush-based cleaning technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal process engineer responsible for wafer cleaning operations at Halo Industries, encompassing both immersion and brush-based cleaning techniques.
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers to assess leading cleaning practices for SiC wafers and outline a roadmap for process enhancements.
  • Conduct practical experiments aimed at optimizing the performance, cost-effectiveness, and throughput of wet bench and brush-based cleaning processes.
  • Address customer feedback to identify and implement quality improvement opportunities.
  • Establish robust quality control protocols to ensure the highest cleanliness standards are upheld for all customer shipments.
  • Analyze metrology data from defect and particle measurement tools to ensure optimal process performance and troubleshoot contamination sources.
  • Promote a safe working environment by maintaining equipment health and proactively identifying chemical safety risks.
  • Engage creatively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams at Halo to enhance processes, pinpoint contamination sources from other operations, or implement cleaning processes to boost yield across the production line.
  • Gather, summarize, and present findings to team members effectively.

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience

  • The ideal candidate holds an MS or PhD with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (or a BS with 5+ years of relevant experience) in engineering, science, or a related field. Candidates with greater experience are also encouraged to apply.

Desired Skills

  • Exceptional detail-oriented analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities, with a critical thinking approach to diagnosing issues and optimizing complex processes.
  • Familiarity with various wafer-cleaning processing equipment, including immersion tanks, ultrasonics/megasonics, and brush-based cleaning systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of chemical safety protocols related to wet bench equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and the capability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a proactive and positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in data analysis or programming using software such as JMP or Minitab, or programming languages like Python or Matlab.
  • Experience with statistical process control in high-precision manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with design-of-experiment methodologies.
