The Opportunity

As Halo Industries, Inc. expands its production capabilities, we are in search of a skilled process engineer to enhance wafer fabrication methodologies that cater to client requirements while ensuring the integrity of production systems across various tools, including grinders, polishers, and cleaning apparatus. This role will specifically concentrate on the equipment and processes designed to eliminate particulates and contaminants from wafers, focusing on wet bench systems and brush-based cleaning technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead process engineer overseeing wafer cleaning operations at Halo Industries, focusing on both immersion and brush-based cleaning techniques.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to assess leading cleaning practices for SiC wafers and outline a strategic plan for process enhancements.
  • Conduct practical experiments aimed at optimizing the performance, cost-efficiency, and throughput of wet bench and brush cleaning processes.
  • Address customer feedback proactively to uncover opportunities for quality enhancements.
  • Establish comprehensive quality control protocols to guarantee the highest cleanliness standards for all outgoing shipments.
  • Examine metrology data from defect and particle measurement instruments to ensure optimal process functionality and troubleshoot contamination sources.
  • Promote a safe working environment by maintaining equipment health and identifying potential chemical safety risks.
  • Engage creatively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams at Halo to implement process improvements, identifying contamination sources from other operations or aiding in the development of cleaning processes to enhance yield.
  • Gather, summarize, and present findings to team members effectively.

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience

  • The ideal candidate will possess an MS or PhD with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (or a BS with 5+ years of experience) in engineering, science, or a related field. Candidates with more extensive experience are encouraged to apply.

Desired Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities, capable of critical thinking to diagnose issues and optimize intricate processes.
  • Experience with various wafer-cleaning equipment, including immersion tanks, ultrasonics/megasonics, and brush cleaning systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical safety protocols related to wet bench operations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities with a proactive and positive approach.

Additional Skills (Bonus)

  • Proficiency in data analysis or programming using software such as JMP or Minitab, or programming languages like Python or Matlab.
  • Experience with statistical process control in a precision manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with design-of-experiment methodologies.
