Overview:

The Harvard Coop has been a cornerstone of the community since 1882, providing a unique retail experience as the oldest collegiate bookstore in the nation. Our mission is to deliver essential literature, course materials, and a diverse range of merchandise to a vibrant and engaged community.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Welcome customers, respond to inquiries, and assist with the selection and purchase of products or services.
  2. Organize, arrange, and maintain the sales floor to ensure an inviting shopping environment.
  3. Process sales transactions efficiently, including cash, credit, and online payments.
  4. For temporary roles, candidates should be available to work weekly for a duration of 90 days or less, with flexible scheduling for various shifts.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement throughout the store to access different departments and products.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Regular lifting of merchandise.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18 years required for consideration.
  • Dynamic, friendly demeanor with excellent communication skills to engage with a diverse clientele.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities to connect customers with suitable products.
  • Basic skills in mathematics, typing, and data entry.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
