Job Summary:

The Harvard University Library seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Associate University Librarian for Discovery and Access. This key role will play a critical part in shaping the library's strategic direction, driving innovation, and ensuring that our users have access to the information they need to succeed.

About the Role:

  • Leadership and Strategic Direction: The Associate University Librarian for Discovery and Access will be a key member of the Vice President's senior team, contributing to library-wide planning, resource allocation, and organizational development.
  • Service Evolution: This role will lead the evolution of services that enable people and machines to discover and access library content, whether that content is in digital or tangible format, purchased or licensed, created in the library, or in open access channels.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: The successful candidate will build strong relationships with colleagues across the library, university, and peer institutions, and represent the library in collaborative initiatives.
  • Supervision and Guidance: The Associate University Librarian for Discovery and Access will supervise senior leaders of units responsible for content acquisition, digitization, description, and access for libraries across the university, and user experience research that informs library services.
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging: This role will ensure a user-centered and evidence-based approach to the development of inclusive, sustainable services, and adapt organizational practices to meet strategic priorities.
