If so, MDDC may have the ideal opportunity for you. We are currently in search of a Financial Controls Analyst to enhance our dynamic team.

About the Role:
This position operates under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer and may involve individual or multiple assignments and/or projects.

The role includes documenting accounting, financial operations, and DPAR processes within the Finance Department by updating comprehensive risk and control matrices/programs for designated process areas.

Conducts thorough testing on accounting, financial operations, and DPAR processes, including performing walk-throughs and tests of operating effectiveness on key controls.

Follows up on the resolution of exceptions.
Gains an understanding of the business, industry, organizational structure, and regulatory environment.

Education & Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess:
An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Internal Controls, Internal Audit, or public accounting is required. Experience in the financial services sector is advantageous.

Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or progress towards one of these certifications is preferred.

Familiarity with internal control analyses and risk assessment methodologies, COSO framework, generally accepted accounting principles, and NCUA regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities:

A typical day for a Financial Controls Analyst will involve:

  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with the organization's staff and management, as well as external auditors, through regular and effective communication to facilitate proactive assessment of the organization's risk profile.
  • Engaging with corporate senior leadership and departmental business managers to coordinate consolidated budget/forecast and to acquire corporate operational direction.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting financial information through monthly financial narratives and other forums.
  • Identifying and investigating variances in budget versus actual expenditures for senior leadership presentations.
  • Providing support for and reviewing critical financial decisions and strategic initiatives by monitoring and reporting on key performance metrics.
  • Validating existing forecasts through financial modeling and trend analysis.
