Job Overview: Community Engagement Specialist

The Community Engagement Specialist will play a crucial role in our nonprofit organization, dedicated to fostering and nurturing relationships with financial supporters. This predominantly remote role encompasses the management of fundraising initiatives, collaboration with community stakeholders, and the enhancement of philanthropic contributions. The Specialist will serve as a representative of Aging UP, effectively articulating our mission to cultivate support and boost donations.

Compensation: This is a part-time, non-exempt position offering an hourly wage ranging from $24 to $30, contingent upon qualifications and experience. Benefits include paid holidays, paid time off, potential bi-annual bonuses, opportunities for professional growth, and the possibility of role expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Coordination: Oversee the planning, organization, and execution of fundraising and special events, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and achievement of objectives. Collaborate with external initiatives that generate funds for Aging UP. Develop and manage a sponsorship framework.
  • Relationship Building: Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective donors (individuals, businesses, and foundations) to sustain and enhance contributions. Communicate strategically and consistently with current and potential supporters throughout all stages of the engagement process, ensuring appropriate recognition and appreciation. Manage and improve the UPlifter recurring giving initiative. Forge partnerships with nonprofits and businesses to support youth in the program (e.g., job training, housing).
  • Administrative Support: Research grant opportunities and assist in the reporting process. Collaborate with the Communications Director to formulate an annual fundraising strategy. Maintain donor databases and reporting mechanisms.
  • Community Outreach: Identify and participate in community events that promote networking and community relations (e.g., Rotary, Chamber mixers). Seek opportunities to present or arrange for Executive Directors to represent Aging UP to potential partners and supporters. Assist the Communications Director in executing marketing strategies (e.g., social media, newsletters).

  • Familiarity with the local community.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Understanding of basic graphic design principles and photography concepts.
  • Experience with CRMs or donor management systems (DonorPerfect preferred).
  • Skilled in managing donor, customer, or client portfolios.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally as required.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion.
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or CFRE credential preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
