CCTV Systems Technician

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) in English.
- A valid Texas Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must obtain the "Crime Prevention Inspector Certification/License" within one year of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associate's degree in electronics or a related field, along with three years of experience in computer and camera programming, preferably in a law enforcement environment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Camera Technician is responsible for providing administrative expertise and leadership in alignment with the needs of the Brownsville Independent School District Police & Security Services. This role involves planning and implementing appropriate procedures for delivering CCTV and alarm system services as part of the overall computer services, ensuring compliance with board policies and regulatory standards. The technician will supervise and assist in the design and deployment of new CCTV and alarm systems, as well as provide guidance on the management of these systems. Additionally, the role includes maintenance and administration of the Police Department's local area network and wireless network, along with other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Chief of Police.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a District vehicle while adhering to all traffic regulations.
- Assist in managing radio communication systems and digital communication networks.
- Maintain and train users on databases such as Speed-Shift Scheduler, Advanced Police Software, and Crime Analysis/CIS Systems.
- Support the upkeep of CCTV and evidence servers, including system backups, software updates, and server administration.
- Install and maintain components of in-car digital video systems and video arraignment systems.
- Evaluate technology and proposals, and assist in resolving information technology issues.
- Configure and install user workstations for Police Department personnel.
- Troubleshoot various issues with user workstations and software applications.
- Take appropriate actions to resolve technology-related problems.
- Meet project deadlines and manage data security tools on a daily basis.
- Possess a working knowledge of Ethernet networking and telephone wiring practices.
- Understand printer installation and configuration.
- Conduct research to define high-level security requirements and best practices.
- Follow established safety protocols while performing job duties.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold a high standard of ethical behavior as expected of all District employees.
- Engage in professional development through in-services and meetings as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Chief of Police.
