Job Summary

The San Francisco Bay Conservation & Development Commission is seeking a highly skilled Coastal Program Analyst II to join our team. As a key member of our Long-range Planning Team, you will serve as the lead for our planning activities related to the San Francisco Waterfront.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Port of San Francisco and other relevant agencies and stakeholders to develop and implement planning projects related to waterfront development and bay resources, sea level rise, and climate change.
  • Design, support, and lead planning projects, including amendments to our San Francisco Waterfront Special Area Plan, and participate in efforts related to social equity and environmental justice.
  • Develop and present planning recommendations to the Commission, working in partnership with the Port of San Francisco and other public agencies and interest groups.
  • Perform a wide variety of planning functions, including literature research, presentations, and technical policy writing on complex planning issues and concepts.
  • Coordinate internally across BCDC staff teams and develop guidance for agency work along the San Francisco Waterfront.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in planning and policy development, with a focus on coastal and waterfront issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
