Job Summary

The San Francisco Bay Conservation & Development Commission is seeking a highly skilled Coastal Planning Specialist III to lead planning activities for the San Francisco Waterfront. This is a critical role that requires strong collaboration and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Planning Activities
    • Develop and implement comprehensive planning strategies for the San Francisco Waterfront
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective project execution
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders
    • Work closely with the Port of San Francisco and other key stakeholders to achieve project goals
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups and other interested parties
  • Design and Lead Complex Planning Projects
    • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets
    • Lead project teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Assist in Regulatory Activities
    • Provide technical expertise on waterfront development, sea level rise, and public access issues
    • Assist in the development of regulatory policies and procedures
  • Coordinate Internally
    • Work closely with BCDC staff teams to ensure effective project execution
    • Provide technical expertise and support to project teams
  • Perform Literature Research, Presentations, and Policy Writing
    • Conduct research and analysis on waterfront development and planning issues
    • Develop and present policy briefs and recommendations
  • Policy and Data Analysis
    • Develop and analyze data to inform planning decisions
    • Provide technical expertise on policy and regulatory issues
  • Training and Mentorship
    • Provide training and mentorship to Long-Range Planning Team staff
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge
  • Develop and Present Planning Recommendations
    • Develop and present planning recommendations to stakeholders
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective project execution

Working Conditions

The BCDC office is located in downtown San Francisco and offers telework options. This position is eligible for telework as per BCDC Telework Policy and Procedures.

Special Requirements

  • Eligible for California civil service classification of Coastal Program Analyst (CPA) III
  • Appointment subject to State Restriction of Appointment provisions
