Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Planning Activities
    • Develop and implement comprehensive planning strategies for the San Francisco Waterfront
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, including the Port of San Francisco, to ensure effective planning and development
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and private sector partners
    • Facilitate communication and coordination among stakeholders to ensure effective planning and development
  • Design and Lead Complex Planning Projects
    • Develop and implement complex planning projects, including feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and policy analyses
    • Lead project teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Assist in Regulatory Activities
    • Provide technical assistance and support to regulatory agencies, including the California Coastal Commission and the San Francisco Planning Department
    • Assist in the development and implementation of regulatory policies and procedures
  • Coordinate Internally
    • Collaborate with BCDC staff teams to ensure effective planning and development
    • Provide technical assistance and support to staff teams as needed
  • Perform Literature Research, Presentations, and Policy Writing
    • Conduct literature research and analysis to inform planning and development decisions
    • Develop and deliver presentations to stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and private sector partners
    • Write and edit policy documents, including planning reports and policy briefs
  • Policy and Data Analysis
    • Conduct policy and data analysis to inform planning and development decisions
    • Develop and implement data-driven planning strategies
  • Training and Mentorship
    • Provide training and mentorship to BCDC staff teams on planning and development best practices
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge
  • Develop and Present Planning Recommendations
    • Develop and present planning recommendations to stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and private sector partners
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of planning recommendations

Working Conditions

BCDC's office is located in downtown San Francisco and offers telework options. This position is eligible for telework as per BCDC's Telework Policy and Procedures.

Special Requirements

  • Eligible for California civil service classification of Coastal Program Analyst (CPA) III
  • Appointment subject to State Restriction of Appointment provisions
  • Candidates required to take the exam for eligibility
