Job Summary

The California Coastal Commission is seeking a highly skilled Coastal Program Analyst III to join our team in the North Central Coast District Office in San Francisco. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and regulating development on California's vibrant North Central Coast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Coordinate the Local Coastal Program and coastal permit-related work of the North Central Coast District staff, ensuring timely completion of tasks and deadlines.
  • Analyze and Prepare complex coastal permit applications and Local Coastal Program submittals, and develop staff reports for action by the Coastal Commission.
  • Review and Monitor compliance with the conditions and terms of coastal development permits, and provide guidance to local government planners on Coastal Act and Local Coastal Program policies.
  • Coordinate with Enforcement staff on reports of violations of the Coastal Act and/or coastal permits, and assist in the preparation of recommendations for resolution of such violations.
  • Provide Information and Guidance to permit applicants and members of the public regarding the Coastal Commission's regulatory and planning programs.
  • Supervise Coastal Planners and provide direct oversight of their work, ensuring that tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Enter and Upload Information into the Commission database, and maintain accurate records of permit applications and related documents.
Requirements
  • Strong Analytical and Communication Skills to effectively analyze complex data and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Excellent Project Management Skills to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Strong Leadership Skills to supervise and motivate team members, and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Knowledge of Coastal Regulations and policies, including the California Coastal Act and Local Coastal Program requirements.
  • Ability to Work in a Team Environment and collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Working Conditions

This is an office-remote hybrid position, with at least two days in-office required. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
