About the Team

The Safety Systems team is seeking a Program Manager to enhance our comprehensive safety framework and integrate various safety research and mitigations into our products. This position is vital for ensuring the secure deployment of our innovative models, synthesizing insights from diverse stakeholders across research, product development, engineering, legal, and policy domains, and ensuring that all associated risks are effectively monitored, mitigated, or resolved.

About the Role

As a Program Manager in Safety Engineering, you will oversee essential tasks, including tracking safety engineering progress and risk assessments, while managing critical data infrastructure initiatives. You will serve as a key connector to facilitate the deployment of our safety systems. Furthermore, you will develop and implement a strategic roadmap for your team to ensure that our top priorities are adequately resourced while capitalizing on new opportunities for significant safety infrastructure investments. Your primary objective will be to establish a foundational layer that supports the safety of all our models and products.

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee key risk areas and engage with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate directly with safety engineers, engineering managers, and product managers to construct a unified safety infrastructure.
  • Manage data and computational infrastructure, including data residency and capacity planning.
  • Design and implement key internal programs, including incident management and processes for regularly updating our safety mitigations.
  • Prioritize and manage a portfolio of infrastructure requests from various internal teams.

  • Hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or computer engineering, or possess a proven track record of engineering expertise.
  • Have a strong history of successfully delivering high-profile, complex technical projects under tight deadlines.
  • Are technically proficient and have effectively collaborated with top-tier engineering and fundamental research teams.
  • Possess expertise in designing and implementing straightforward, scalable processes that address complex challenges.
  • Are resourceful and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Have a solid understanding of content integrity and moderation, including industry best practices and regulatory guidelines.
  • Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to AGI safety.
