About the Role
In the capacity of a Safety Engineering Technical Program Manager, you will oversee essential tasks that include tracking the progress of safety engineering initiatives and managing risk assessments. You will also supervise critical data infrastructure projects, serving as a pivotal link to optimize the deployment of OpenAI's safety systems. Furthermore, you will develop and implement a computational roadmap for your team, ensuring that our primary objectives are adequately resourced while capitalizing on new opportunities for significant safety infrastructure investments. Your main focus will be to establish a foundational layer that underpins the safety of all our models and products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee key risk domains and engage with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate directly with safety engineers, engineering leads, and product managers to construct unified safety infrastructure.
- Manage data and computational infrastructure, including considerations for data residency and capacity planning.
- Design and implement critical internal programs, such as incident management and processes for the regular update of our safety mitigations.
- Prioritize and manage a portfolio of infrastructure requests from various internal teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Possesses an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or computer engineering, or has a proven track record of engineering proficiency.
- Demonstrates a strong history of successfully delivering high-stakes, complex technical projects within stringent timelines.

- Exhibits expertise in designing and executing straightforward, scalable processes that address intricate challenges.

- Possesses exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
