Role Responsibilities

In the capacity of a Safety Engineering Program Manager, you will oversee essential functions, from tracking safety engineering advancements and risk assessments to managing crucial data infrastructure initiatives. You will serve as a vital link to improve the deployment of OpenAI's safety systems. Furthermore, you will devise and implement a computational roadmap for your team, ensuring that our primary objectives are adequately resourced while capitalizing on new opportunities for significant safety infrastructure investments. Your main goal will be to establish a foundational layer that underpins the safety of all our models and products.

Key Duties Include:

  • Overseeing critical risk domains and engaging with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborating directly with safety engineers, engineering leaders, and product managers to develop unified safety infrastructure.
  • Managing data and computational infrastructure, focusing on data residency and capacity planning.
  • Designing and executing essential internal programs, including incident management and processes for the regular updating of our safety mitigations.
