Role Overview

The Finetuning Infrastructure team is responsible for creating the frameworks that facilitate our extensive distributed finetuning processes. As the team manager, you will guide a group of experts in machine learning and distributed systems, focusing on enhancing the efficiency of these systems, accelerating model development iterations, and continuously upgrading the infrastructure to integrate the latest research findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with technical leads, research teams, and product teams to prioritize the team's projects, ensuring rapid progress on research initiatives and training operations.
  • Establish effective operational processes, including postmortem reviews, incident management, and on-call schedules.
  • Mentor and support team members in their professional development and career growth.
  • Oversee the recruitment process to ensure the team can expand in line with our growth objectives.
  • You may be a suitable candidate if you:
    • Share a belief in the transformative potential of advanced AI systems and are committed to guiding this transformation positively.
    • Possess at least one year of management experience and find fulfillment in people management.
    • Are quick to learn, as this role requires understanding a variety of complex technical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with research teams, particularly in transitioning from research to production.
  • Strong background in people management, including coaching, performance assessment, and career development.
  • Excellent project management skills, including prioritization and cross-team communication.
  • Experience in team recruitment, including forecasting staffing needs and evaluating candidates.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $320k - $600k. Our compensation package includes salary, equity, and benefits, all designed to be competitive with market standards.
