Position Overview

As an Environmental Services Associate, you will be responsible for executing daily sanitation tasks across resident accommodations, communal spaces, restrooms, administrative offices, wellness areas, and other specified locations as directed. You will uphold community and regulatory standards for hygiene and infection prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct consistently.
  • Ensure compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Conduct basic cleaning operations in designated areas according to established community schedules and protocols. Basic cleaning tasks include:
    • Dusting horizontal surfaces.
    • Emptying waste receptacles, disposing of waste, and replacing liners.
    • Damp-wiping or dusting all furnishings.
    • Cleaning and polishing metal, plastic, and porcelain fixtures in restrooms.
    • Mopping and sanitizing floors in rooms and offices.
    • Spot cleaning walls and windows, polishing metal surfaces, and replenishing room supplies such as toilet paper, tissues, and soap.
    • Vacuuming carpets and performing spot cleaning as necessary.
  • Execute more intensive cleaning tasks as assigned, which may include carpet shampooing, window cleaning, wall wiping, and light fixture cleaning.
  • Assist in the cleanup of emergency spills when requested.
  • Follow all infection control protocols and utilize Standard Precautions.
  • Use only community-approved cleaning agents, adhering to product instructions for effective use and safety guidelines. Store cleaning supplies in accordance with community policy and regulatory standards.
  • Properly maintain and store cleaning equipment after use, and recommend repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Observe and report any necessary repairs to community equipment, furnishings, buildings, and fixtures to the housekeeping director or designated manager.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by your Supervisor or the Executive Director.

  • Engage in all areas of the community.
  • Frequent movement during working hours is required.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and may need to adjust cleaning schedules.
  • Interact with residents, staff, visitors, and government personnel under various conditions.
  • May encounter hostile or emotionally distressed residents, family members, staff, and visitors.
  • Work beyond standard hours and on weekends and holidays as necessary, and may be required to assist in other roles as needed.
  • Subject to call-back during emergency situations (e.g., severe weather, evacuations, post-disaster scenarios).
  • Potential exposure to injuries from falls, burns from equipment, odors, and reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including TB, COVID-19, and other viruses.
  • May handle and be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
Specific Requirements
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements as established by state and federal regulations.
  • Must be able to obtain a criminal history clearance.
  • Must comply with all training requirements.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive feedback.
  • Must be able to interact tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, ensuring the cleanliness of housekeeping areas, and perform regular inspections of resident rooms for sanitation and safety.
  • Must be willing to collaborate harmoniously with other staff and engage with residents at their respective maturity levels.
  • Must be open to exploring new methods and principles and integrating them into existing cleaning practices.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions regarding the mixing of cleaning solutions.
  • Must be able to communicate information regarding a resident's condition.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
  • Must be able to operate washers, dryers, vacuum cleaners, and other necessary housekeeping equipment.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
(With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must possess the ability to understand and communicate in English at a level that ensures safe and efficient job performance.
  • Must be able to manage the mental and emotional demands of the position.
Compensation:

$17.50 per hour or based on experience

Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday - 8 AM - 4:30 PM
