Position Overview

Role Summary

The Custodial Staff member is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Transitional Living Center.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure floors are clean through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  2. Collect and dispose of waste from administrative offices and classrooms.
  3. Manage donations in the front lobby.
  4. Maintain cleanliness in restrooms and childcare areas.
  5. Polish and clean furniture and fixtures.
  6. Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  7. Dust various surfaces including furniture, walls, and equipment.
  8. Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water with detergents or acids as needed.
  9. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  10. Restore and maintain the interior of the building.
  11. Utilize solvents and equipment for thorough cleaning.
  12. Adhere to safety procedures when using chemical cleaners and equipment.
  13. Assist in moving heavy items as necessary.
  14. Report major repair needs to the Supervisor.
  15. Order cleaning supplies and equipment as required.
  16. Set up and dismantle event spaces.
  17. Apply pest control measures to prevent infestations.
  18. Complete various maintenance tasks as assigned.
  19. Utilize protective gear and follow safety protocols.
  20. Manage inventory for maintenance supplies.
  21. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Flexibility in scheduling is required to ensure coverage.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of two years of experience in a related field.
  2. Ability to work independently while being a team player.
  3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Demonstrated maturity in judgment and crisis management.
  5. High school diploma or equivalent.
  6. Organizational skills with minimal supervision.
  7. Alignment with the mission of The Salvation Army.
  8. Successful completion of a background check.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. At least two years of experience in a similar role is desirable.
