The Laboratory Technician in Analytical Research & Development plays a crucial role in supporting AR&D by ensuring the laboratory operates efficiently. Responsibilities include: managing laboratory waste disposal, maintaining solvent inventory, restocking laboratory supplies, conducting routine checks of standard inventory, and removing expired materials, among other essential tasks. This role also involves assisting in the evaluation and testing of raw materials, excipients, APIs, and both in-process and finished product samples. AR&D is also responsible for the development and validation of methodologies that support the release and stability testing of non-commercial products and materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily balance weigh checks and maintain cleanliness in balance work areas, ensuring all balances are operational and collaborating with metrology for necessary servicing.
  • Standardize lab pH meters daily or as required, ensuring availability of reagents and supplies, and maintaining cleanliness in designated work areas.
  • Under supervision, manage daily equipment equilibration and maintain general use equipment areas in an orderly fashion, communicating with metrology for service needs.
  • Assist AR&D with laboratory operational tasks including chemical inventory management, qualitative standards inventory, consumable supplies management, waste disposal, and safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control for shared laboratory operational services.
  • Prepare lab reagents, test solutions, buffers, mobile phases, and other necessary solutions for sample evaluation and testing under supervision.
  • After completing training and demonstrating proficiency, perform testing of samples and products, ensuring timely documentation and reporting of results.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and contribute to laboratory operational excellence while maintaining communication with various departments such as product development, quality control, metrology, and quality assurance. Adhere to Catalent, FDA, EPA, and OSHA regulations, ensuring all work is conducted safely and maintaining proper records in accordance with all SOPs and policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required; an Associate's degree in a science or technology field related to the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a chemical, medical, or pharmaceutical environment is required.
  • Previous exposure to cGMPs or cGLPs is essential.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is necessary.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to differentiate colors and achieve 20/30 acuity in both far and near vision, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk regularly, and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds is required.
