The Laboratory Technician in Analytical Research & Development plays a crucial role in supporting AR&D by managing a functional laboratory. Responsibilities include: the disposal of laboratory waste, replenishing the warehouse with solvents, ensuring adequate solvent supplies in the laboratory, restocking lab consumables, conducting routine inventory reviews, and removing expired standards, along with other necessary services. This role also involves assisting in the evaluation and testing of raw materials, excipients, APIs, in-process, and finished product samples. AR&D is also responsible for the development and validation of methods that support the release and stability testing of non-commercial products and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily balance weigh checks and maintain cleanliness in balance work areas, ensuring all balances are operational and coordinating with metrology for servicing as needed.
  • Standardize lab pH meters daily or as required, ensuring availability of reagents and supplies for analysts, and confirming that all reagents and chemicals are properly labeled and not expired.
  • Under supervision, perform daily equipment equilibration, maintaining cleanliness in general use equipment areas and communicating with metrology for necessary services.
  • Assist AR&D with laboratory operational tasks, including chemical inventory management, qualitative standards inventory, consumable supplies management, waste disposal, and safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control for shared laboratory operational services.
  • Prepare lab reagents, test solutions, buffers, mobile phases, and other necessary solutions for sample evaluation and testing under supervision.
  • After training and demonstrating proficiency in various test procedures, perform testing of samples and products, document results promptly, and report findings in a timely manner.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and contribute to laboratory operational excellence, maintaining communication and collaboration with various departments such as product development, quality control, metrology, and quality assurance. Ensure compliance with Catalent, FDA, EPA, and OSHA regulations, performing all tasks safely and maintaining proper records in accordance with all SOPs and policies.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required; an Associate's degree in a science or technology-related field is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a chemical, medical, or pharmaceutical environment is required.
  • Previous exposure to cGMPs or cGLPs is essential.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is necessary.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to differentiate colors and achieve 20/30 acuity in both far and near vision, with or without corrective lenses.
  • The individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly, and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds.
