Cybersecurity Systems Security Specialist

Location: Hybrid

Compensation: $105,000-$115,000 based on years of experience

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pertinent cybersecurity experience.
  • Current Security+ certification is required.
  • Familiarity with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Position Overview

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the government cyber lead, delivering cybersecurity assistance for sophisticated software-driven technologies, including agile manufacturing, condition-based maintenance, augmented reality/virtual reality, learning neural networks, cloud-based infrastructure and services, and robotics.

The Cybersecurity Systems Security Specialist will be integral to the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO), which enhances mission readiness by swiftly identifying, implementing, and scaling technologies vital for the operation and maintenance of the U.S. Air Force. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary cybersecurity technical advisor and consultant to the Program Manager, Information System Owner, and other relevant stakeholders for the weapon system.
  • Evaluate systems for vulnerabilities and provide actionable recommendations for remediation.
  • Assist the government Cyber lead in executing RMF activities that lead to system RMF acceptance in accordance with applicable guidelines.
  • Support, coordinate, and continuously assess the security posture of systems, ensuring that any adverse events are formally managed and reported.
  • Develop, review, and update essential documentation required for achieving RMF accreditation for each system.
  • Utilize accepted methodologies for documenting the RMF status of each RSO system within the Department of Defense environment.

Manage projects in alignment with DoD and Air Force RMF policies, including but not limited to:

  • DoDI Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework for DoD Information Technology.
  • DoD M - Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management.
  • CNSSI Security Categorization and Control Selection for National Security Systems.
  • NIST 800-series Special Publications (SP).
  • Computer Security, including SP Security Controls and Assessment Procedures for Federal Information Systems and Organizations and Air Force Instruction Series 17.
