Job Description:

The Cybersecurity Systems Officer (ISSO) III plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational security posture of information systems. This position collaborates closely with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure comprehensive security measures are in place.

The responsibilities encompass physical and environmental security, personnel security, incident response, and security training initiatives. The officer will work in tandem with the ISSM and ISO to monitor the information systems and their operational environments, which includes developing and revising authorization documentation and implementing configuration management across authorization boundaries.

This role is pivotal in assessing the security implications of changes and advising the ISSM accordingly. The primary focus is on Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. Daily support will be provided for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the ISSM in fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
  • Ensure procedures for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media are followed.
  • Notify the ISSM of any changes that may impact the authorization status of the information systems.
  • Conduct regular reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with security authorization packages.
  • Coordinate any modifications to hardware, software, or firmware with the ISSM and Authorizing Official (AO) prior to implementation.
  • Oversee system recovery processes to ensure security features are restored and functioning correctly.
  • Maintain current and accessible IS security documentation for authorized personnel.
  • Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented, including any anomalies.
  • Participate in required technical and security training relevant to assigned duties.
  • Execute the cybersecurity component of self-inspections, including security coordination and review of system assessment plans.
  • Identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assist in implementing countermeasures.
  • Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems.
  • Perform ISSO duties in support of both internal and external clients.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring activities for authorization boundaries under your oversight.
  • Assist DoD, National Agency, and Contractor organizations with assessment and authorization efforts.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience, particularly in developing Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages.
  • 2+ years of SAP experience is required.
  • Prior experience in roles such as System Administrator, Network Administrator, or ISSO.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (4 years).

Certifications:

  • IAT Level II (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.) or IAM Level II.

Clearance Required to Start:

  • TS/SCI required.
  • Must be able to attain TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Travel Required: 10-25%
