Position Summary

FEI Systems is in search of a highly proficient and driven cloud systems engineer to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud technologies, particularly in AWS, networking, infrastructure technologies, and the Microsoft ecosystem. This role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with various internal and external teams. This position is crucial for providing engineering and support for an environment that serves both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the management of AWS services, including solution design, deployment, monitoring, management, and issue resolution.
  • Administer Azure services, focusing on solution design, deployment, monitoring, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the management of networking services, including design, deployment, monitoring, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Entra ID services for identity management and authentication.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, SCCM, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Engage in planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance tasks in accordance with standard operational procedures.
  • Establish, implement, and uphold system configuration standards.
  • Design, install, configure, administer, tune, troubleshoot, and optimize Windows servers and related components to enhance performance and ensure high availability in line with specific business needs.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend maintenance and production on-call support as required.
  • Act as level 3 support for diagnosing and resolving advanced Windows server and client issues.
  • Communicate with vendor support as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • At least 7 years of experience in system engineering, operations, and maintenance within a large enterprise environment, emphasizing cloud platforms.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with AWS and Azure, particularly from an infrastructure and networking standpoint.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services such as EC2, AWS networking, VPC, ELB, AWS Security, IAM, S3, Firewalls, EBS, Transit Gateways, Route53, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, among others.
  • Proficient in Azure services including VMs, Azure Automation, vNets, Load Balancers, NSGs, Firewalls, Storage Accounts, Azure networking, Azure DNS, Containers, etc.
  • Experience with networking solutions: firewalls, routing, VPNs, access controls, etc.
  • Familiarity with Entra ID services: SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, Passwordless authentication, identity management, etc.
  • Experience in administering Windows Server, Active Directory, GPOs, PKI, SCCM.
  • Design, configuration, and implementation of failover support processes and services.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, problem resolution, and proactive monitoring capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of server performance analysis and optimization.
  • Good experience with automation and scripting, particularly in PowerShell.
  • Understanding of ITIL principles.
  • Availability for after-hours support for production issues or planned system migrations/upgrades.
  • Ability to be on-call and respond to critical alerts during and after business hours.
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethic.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for system documentation.
  • Strong time management, problem-solving skills, and capability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, and FISMA security policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • AWS (preferred) or Azure certifications.
  • Experience with FortiGate firewalls.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems.
  • ITIL Foundations certification.
