Position Title: Lead Coffee Roaster

OVERVIEW

Kaizen Lab Inc. is on the lookout for a dedicated, self-aware, and adaptable Lead Coffee Roaster. This role is essential in our roasting facility, where the Lead Roaster is responsible for packaging roasted coffee and preparing orders for various clients, including wholesale accounts and e-commerce customers. Additionally, this position involves the roasting of coffee and collaboration with our roasting and orders teams to ensure that all orders are processed efficiently and accurately.

The work environment is dynamic, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration. The success of our production relies heavily on the diligence and communication of each team member. Every contribution is vital to our collective achievement.

We manage numerous processes and strive for seamless operations, understanding that adjustments during the workday are a part of the job. Flexibility and respect for our work and colleagues are paramount. Attention to detail is crucial, as the smallest aspects can significantly impact our craft, and we take pride in our work.

As a Lead Coffee Roaster, prior knowledge of our specific systems is not a prerequisite; however, a commitment to personal growth and the success of the roasting team and the company is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enhance the overall culture and business growth by utilizing our Culture Guide for self-reflection and ongoing development.
  • Participate in or lead improvement initiatives and projects as necessary.
  • Collaborate on the packaging and fulfillment of roasted coffee for all orders.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in the packaging of all orders.
  • Roast coffee in accordance with our quality standards.
  • Accurately fulfill orders and communicate with the Inventory Manager as needed.
  • Maintain strong interdepartmental communication.
  • Keep the production area and equipment clean and safe.
  • Assist in ordering production supplies as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Resourceful problem-solver with a knack for resolving issues promptly.
  • Comfortable with hands-on tasks for extended periods.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced setting.
  • Adaptable to unexpected changes in workload.
  • Capable of taking direction while also working independently.
  • Strategic thinker with a broad perspective.

STRONGLY PREFERRED:

  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing or production.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Driver's license is a plus.
  • Forklift certification is advantageous.

COMPENSATION + BENEFITS:

CLASSIFICATION & SUPERVISION:

  • This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position.
  • The Lead Coffee Roaster will be expected to work weekends as required.
  • The Head Roaster will provide supervision to the Lead Coffee Roaster.
