POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Barista and Cafe Operations Manager is a dynamic, professional, and detail-oriented individual responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of our flagship cafe while providing unwavering support to our barista team.

We seek a passionate leader who is committed to enhancing our business through innovative strategies, effective systems, and a strong focus on cultural development.

This role requires a genuine interest in personal development, with a willingness to seek constructive feedback and implement it effectively; a natural ability to offer direct, supportive, and motivating guidance to all team members.

As the Lead Barista and Cafe Operations Manager, prior knowledge of our specific systems is not mandatory; however, a commitment to personal growth and the success of the cafe team, cross-departmental colleagues, and the organization as a whole is essential.

We are looking for someone who is proactive in identifying and developing solutions as needed.

Individuals who are inflexible, unwilling to lead by example, or resistant to feedback need not apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead a team of 10-20 retail staff, including Assistant Managers, Shift Leads, Coffee Educators, and Baristas.
  • Enhance the cafe's culture and business growth through self-reflection and commitment to personal and team development.
  • Recruit and hire individuals who align with our values and anticipate staffing needs.
  • Train and mentor cafe staff to ensure exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
  • Act as a role model for our culture and represent Ritual in the community.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to employees and conduct performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish and uphold standards for culture, values, quality, and service.
  • Ensure that customers receive consistently high-quality coffee and service.
  • Monitor sales and profitability, managing costs to maintain financial sustainability.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting cafe environment for both staff and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role within a cafe setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to build inclusive and diverse teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
  • A genuine passion for coffee.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive and spreadsheets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular attendance and the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, and moving throughout the cafe are essential.

Must be able to interact with customers and staff for extended periods and handle various tasks efficiently.
