Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Barista to join our team in Downtown San Jose. As a Barista, you will be the first point of contact between Tico Coffee Roasters and our retail clients. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities- Providing exceptional customer service with a friendly smile
- Demonstrating passion and enthusiasm for coffee and creating incredible guest experiences
- Educating customers on our products and services
- Maintaining high-quality and consistent product standards
- Ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving any issues that may arise
- Accurately processing transactions in our POS system
- Cupping and tasting coffee regularly to maintain familiarity with our products and quality standards
- Staying informed about new products and their attributes
- Communicating effectively with other team members, management, and production to resolve challenges and elevate service
- Creating a positive work environment and contributing to a collaborative team spirit
- Participating in training events, including cuppings, tastings, socials, and workshops
- Delivering impeccable hospitality to our guests and fellow teammates
- Participating in team work to 'dial in' and serve a selection of delicious coffees in various brewing methods
- Expediting and serving delicious sweet and savory food created by our food partners
- Supporting your team in keeping the cafe running smoothly and beautifully
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Performing repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and forearms to operate espresso machinery
- Tasting and smelling coffee
- Frequent communication with customers
- Lifting up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must be positive, inspiring, and respectful
- Passionate about coffee, people, and creating hospitality and culinary experiences
- Ability to manage your own time effectively
- Great verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work on a flexible schedule and on weekends
- Existing Food Handler's Certification or certification within 30 days post-hire
- One free 12 oz bag of coffee per month
