Position Overview:
The Chief Officer of Alumni Engagement Initiatives will spearhead the strategic planning and oversight of identity-focused Affinity Groups and various communities within our Alumni Engagement framework.

Role of Affinity Groups:
Affinity Groups serve as networks for alumni who connect through shared identities encompassing cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and disability backgrounds. These networks facilitate lasting relationships among diverse and historically underrepresented alumni, fostering a sense of community with the University.

Alumni Engagement Framework:
The Alumni Engagement framework is dedicated to cultivating an ecosystem of communities based on identity, affinity, and shared interests, reflecting the diverse and intersecting experiences of our alumni.

Team Leadership:
This role involves leading a team of over two staff members to create and execute a strategic plan aimed at enhancing engagement and nurturing a deeper sense of belonging within our Affinity Group communities and among our diverse alumni.

Collaboration with Volunteers:
The Chief Officer will act as a liaison to various affinity group communities and supervise team members who engage with these and other communities within the Alumni Engagement framework. Additionally, this position will support volunteer leaders in their efforts to connect and uplift their communities.

Program Development:
This role will oversee the design and implementation of tailored programming for our diverse alumni, collaborating with colleagues in Alumni Relations and Advancement to organize targeted events and communications.

Partnerships:
Moreover, the Chief Officer will work closely with University stakeholders, including identity centers, to develop alumni-student Affinity Group programming and explore new initiatives.

Reporting Structure:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement, this position will collaborate with the senior director and the Vice President of Alumni Relations to advance a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging agenda for the department.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years of experience in related fields such as alumni relations, volunteer management, community building, and diversity strategy development. A minimum of two years in a supervisory role is also required.

Skills Required:
Ideal candidates will have experience in higher education or nonprofit settings, with knowledge of the University being advantageous. Strong project management and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities. The capacity to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines is crucial.
