The Director of Campus Communication Strategies serves as a pivotal leader tasked with promoting the institution's core objectives for student development, inclusive engagement, and open discourse through partnerships, initiatives, and resources that enhance the cultivation and application of skills essential for effective communication, dialogue, conflict mediation, and facilitation across the entire university community. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Campus Life and collaborating closely with various stakeholders, the Director oversees the Campus Communication Strategies initiative aimed at fostering the development of skills necessary for constructive communication, conflict mediation, and active participation in a diverse environment.
The Director is responsible for crafting a comprehensive vision for the Campus Communication Strategies initiative that encourages participants to engage meaningfully in discussions and relationship-building around complex issues. The Director provides training and skill enhancement opportunities for students, faculty, and staff focused on communication, conflict mediation, and dialogue facilitation. Additionally, the Director is tasked with recruiting, training, and supervising teams involved in project-related activities. This role is vital for upholding academic freedom and advancing scholarly pursuits.
Job Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline and requisite years of experience.
- Certification in mediation or facilitation is mandatory.
- Proven experience in program development for a diverse academic population.
- Understanding of principles related to student learning and development.
- Capacity to nurture a community that values diverse perspectives in an inclusive setting.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and effective multitasking skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and technological proficiency.
- Dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
